OmicsTech joins BIOSPAIN 2026
From Sept 29 to Oct 1 2026, OmicsTech joined BIOSPAIN 2026, one of the major biotechnology events in Spain, which brought together more than 1,900 attendees from nearly 900 organisations across 32 countries, as well as 95 investors from 50 national and international investment companies. Held in Bilbao from 29 September to 1 October, the event provided OmicsTech with an opportunity to connect with new partners, explore potential collaborations and showcase the capabilities of the three nodes that make up the ICTS.
At the OmicsTech stand, representatives from two of its nodes, the Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) and the Centre for Omics Sciences (COS), came together to provide visitors with an overview of the ICTS and its capabilities. The stand was also an opportunity to share information about funding calls and other opportunities of interest to the national scientific and clinical communities, as well as to present some of the latest technological developments and innovations available through the ICTS.
CNAG participated through our Project Manager, Francesc Bou, representing the genomics capabilities of OmicsTech. CNAG contributes expertise in genomics, including advanced sequencing technologies, genomic data generation and analysis, and specialised knowledge across a broad range of biomedical and health research applications.
During the event, CNAG presented two recent additions to its Sequencing Platform. The first is a new large-scale sequencing platform from Roche Diagnostics Spain, capable of analysing a complete human genome in just four hours, significantly reducing sequencing time and increasing capacity for large-scale genomic studies.
The second is a 3D spatial transcriptomics platform from Stellaromics, the first technology of its kind available in Spain. It enables researchers to analyse gene activity while preserving the three-dimensional organisation of tissue, providing a more detailed view of how cells interact within their native environment and opening new possibilities for studying complex diseases, including cancer.COS was represented by Marc Riu and Jennifer Ana Pérez-Castro from Eurecat, showcasing its expertise in metabolomics. Together, genomics and metabolomics provide complementary perspectives for studying biological systems, connecting genetic information with molecular changes and phenotypes.
