The proteomics area includes the Mass spectrometry-based Proteomics Facility of the CRG node (Proteomics Platform, PP-CRG) and the Proteomics facility of the COS node. With the new incorporation of the PP-CRG platform to the IOT infrastructure, a common catalogue of services using a unique access portal will be created. The PP-CRG is a joint effort of the CRG and the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) to create an innovative reference proteomics center that offers mass spectrometry-based proteomics analyses with strong added value to the scientific community. The PP-CRG is allocated in the Parc de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona (PRBB) building a embedded in the Core Facilities program of CRG, and it is an active part of the “Plataforma de Recursos Biomoleculares y Bioinformáticos (ProteoRed, Instituto de Salud Carlos III)”. The incorporation of the PP-CRG platform to the IOT will increase the analytical capabilities of the IOT with five new advanced mass spectrometers (3x Hybrid Orbitrap systems, 1x QTRAP, 1x QTOF), and seven liquid chromatographic systems to identify and quantify cellular proteomes, as well as all the robotic and computational infrastructure for sample preparation and data analysis. The incorporation of the PP-CRG into IOT will also contribute with seven mass spectrometry experts, and it will expand the current proteomics services with a unique catalogue on structural, quantitative and targeted mass spectrometry proteomics analyses.
The Proteomics facility of the COS is focused on profiling and quantifying proteins on experiments that include chromatographic and electrophoretic systems for protein and peptide separation coupled to the state-of-the-art mass spectrometry systems (1x Orbitrap, 1x QTOF, 1x MALDI-TOF/TOF and 4x QqQ), their especial characteristic is to provide MS-imaging, intact proteins analysis and surface Plasmon resonance interaction investigation, among other common proteomic analysis.
The Proteomics area of the IOT can guide researchers at any project phase or from start to finish.
